About

Interdisciplinary Institute is a STEAM+ hub for creative play and art-science interchange. Our focus is to present cutting edge research in an artistic and performance setting across the disciplines, reaching marginalized audiences in the global community. 

We have worked closely with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Krannert Art Museum, Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club, Champaign County Community Coalition, surrounding community, 40 North, Asian Improv aRts, Stanford University, San Francisco State University, Columbia University, UC Riverside, and University of Arkansas.

We have hosted Summer Fundraising Series, Piano Studio Recital, Teen Summer Program, local innovative DJs, artists and performers and an exciting partnership with "Change That Narrative Art Show" as well as partnering with local non profits and businesses. For the Boneyard Arts Festival in April 2024, we hosted interdisciplinary artist Will Krauland as our visiting Artist-in-Residence from the University of Arkansas. 

A secondary mission is to support our educational initiatives, which include activating the space for community use, whether for events, concerts, workshops, recordings and more.

We inspire the next generation of performers, inventors and creators, leaving an impactful legacy in this unique community. We have audience members gathering from around the nation, particularly those interested in the sciences, arts, music and literature.
